When are service projects announced?
At the start of every school year (in August), the LAHF group leaders announce all the field trips, service projects, gym days, and specialty events we have planned for the year. Our aim when we do the scheduling is five events monthly: two field trips, one service project, one gym day, and one mom’s night out. We also have seasonal parties and the occasional specialty event. Members can then sign up for and attend whichever events interest them. You are not expected to attend any event that does not interest you. We also encourage our members to use our Facebook groups to organize and advertise their own events such as field trips, clubs, curriculum sales/swaps, and co-op classes.
Are service projects open to unpaid members?
Yes. Service projects are open to anyone who wants to be of service and do good deeds. Feel free to bring a like minded friend. The more who attend, the more good we can do in our community and for others.
Where can I find the service project sign up form?
Starting in 2016, sign up for service projects will be on the individual Facebook event page for each service project.
Can I donate to the LAHF Service Projects Fund?
Absolutely. Depending on the specific service project, we may be accepting donations of goods and/or monetary donations. Goods we are collecting will be posted on the individual Facebook event pages as well as on the main Facebook group page.
A number of our service projects require monetary donations for buying supplies or for shipping items to various charities we work with.
If you would like to donate to the LAHF Service Projects Fund, we accept donations via PayPal, credit card, cash, or check.
