When are field trips announced?
At the start of every school year (in August), the LAHF group leaders announce all the field trips, service projects, gym days, and specialty events we have planned for the year. Our aim when we do the scheduling is five events monthly: two field trips, one service project, one gym day, and one mom’s night out. We also have seasonal parties and the occasional specialty event. Members can then sign up for and attend whichever events interest them. You are not expected to attend any event that does not interest you. We also encourage our members to use our Facebook groups to organize and advertise their own events such as field trips, clubs, curriculum sales/swaps, and co-op classes.

Are field trips open to unpaid members?
No. We have on occasion, under special circumstances, opened field trips up to unpaid members. However. Under typical circumstances, field trips are for paid members of LAHF only.

Do the field trips cost extra money?
LAHF leaders aim to keep costs as low as possible. For the 2015-2016 school year, we scheduled 20 field trips. Of these 20 field trips, 12 were FREE to attend. There were 8 field trips which cost money. The amount those field trips cost is decided by the field trip venue, not by the LAHF group leaders. We try to only schedule field trips at places that are free, or at least very low cost. Several of the paid field trips are only $2-3 to attend.

Where can I find the field trip sign up form?
Starting in 2016, sign up for field trips will be on the individual Facebook event page for each field trip. You must be a paid member of LAHF to join the paid members only Facebook group and receive invitations to group field trips.

When are my field trip fees due?
Field trip fees are due a minimum of two weeks before the event.

If I pay for a field trip and then don’t attend, can I get refund?
Unless an event is canceled by group administration, there are no refunds.

Do you have attendance requirements?
No, while we encourage our members to attend events, we do not require anyone to attend any event and we will not punish anyone for choosing to opt out of event sign up.
That said, if you sign up for an event, you will be expected to arrive to that event 15 minutes before the start time. If you are going to be late, or if you are going to be unable to attend the event, then we expect you to let the group leaders know ASAP so we can plan accordingly. If you consistently are “no call/no show” then we will have to discuss the matter further with you. It isn’t fair to our field trip venues nor to our fellow group members when attendance becomes  a constant issue.
